East Midlands Airport is surrounded by class D airspace, therefore aircraft operating under VFR flight rules must file a flight plan and receive a clearance before operating in controlled airspace.
Pilots may be instructed to route via the Long Eaton or Shepshed entry lanes. This involves remaining east or west of the M1 motorway depending on the runway in use. Further information regarding the use of entry lanes can be found under the downloads section.
